As we all continue to grapple with the current situation, all shows are either being cancelled or postponed. In these times, though, the global musical community continues to create and share art through our various and preferred online platforms (mine is INSTAGRAM).
Personally, I've been performing live meditative free-improvisations almost every night at 8:00pm EST on IG. I've also been busy doing some remote recordings in my home studio & putting videos together, of some solo stuff, as well as with The Chabones. I'll be posting these throughout the duration of this pandemic. Please continue to follow and support your favorite artists, and if you're able to, consider donating to one of the various funds that have been set up to aid musicians in their time of need. MusiCares is a great one, and I'm personally a fan of the International Society of Jazz Arrangers & Composers.
Stay safe and stay sane,

"Sarian's trumpet literally speaks"
Karl Ackermann, All About Jazz
Born on a warm Tuesday morning in Canada, only to be whisked away to Argentina at the tender age of 1, Michael Sarian is a trumpeter and composer whose work has been described as "a steady study in dichotomy. With a wordless elegance, the New York City based musician is flexibly firm, loosely tight, and brightly dark. The innovations within his compositions are deceptively dramatic with varying degrees of a melodic sensibility." (Frank De Blase, Rochester City Newspaper)
Michael relocated to New York City in 2012 to pursue a master’s degree in Jazz Studies at New York University, where he studied with great musicians such as Laurie Frink, Alan Ferber, Brad Shepik, Ralph Alessi and Mike Rodriguez. Michael has performed at the Montreux Jazz Festival, BRIC JazzFest, Getxo Blues Festival, Blue Note Jazz Club, Jazz at Lincoln Center, The Beacon Theater, Central Park SummerStage, Teatro Colón, has appeared on WNYC's Soundcheck with John Schaefer, NPR's World Cafe, and many more.
His fourth album as a bandleader will be released in September of 2020 under his new quartet, New Aurora, with ears&eyes Records. His three previous releases are with his septet Michael Sarian & The Chabones (Argentine slang for 'the dudes'), most recently LEÓN in August of 2018 with ZOHO Music.
He also leads a 16 piece big band alternative, Michael Sarian & The Big Chabones.
Besides performing regularly with his own projects and as a sideman throughout the city of New York and all its colorful boroughs, Michael teaches trumpet, theory & composition, works at a non-profit, cooks noodles, enjoys bourbon & wine, goes to the gym, and tries to make the most of his fifteen minute walk to the nearest subway station.
